Angel to make debut for Red Bulls against Rapids

Soccer Betting Lines

05/13/2007 - East Rutherford, NJ (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Sunday's contest between Red Bull New York and the Colorado Rapids at Giants Stadium figures to be a slugfest. Both teams sit near the top of their respective conferences while coming off disappointing outings in their most recent league fixtures.

New York sits in second place in the Eastern Conference despite going undefeated in its first five games. It gave some points away last weekend when it couldn't hold onto a 3-1 lead at Real Salt Lake. The last-placed team managed two goals in the closing minutes to earn a draw with the resurgent Red Bulls.

"Obviously the last 5-6 minutes of the game were a complete disaster, but I think for the most part we played pretty well," New York coach Bruce Arena said. "I don't even remember when we scored. In the last five minutes they scored three goals. It was a poor job of managing the game."

New York should get a big boost to its club on Sunday, with designated player Juan Pablo Angel scheduled to make his first Major League Soccer start. He scored a goal in his MLS debut this past Tuesday in a U.S. Open Cup qualifying loss to Los Angeles.

"For his first game with us, I like what I saw," Arena said of Tuesday's contest."He got a goal, got a number of goal-scoring opportunities. It was pretty good. He had some other chances."

"I felt good, and the most important thing now is having more regularity," Angel said. "We have an important game coming up against Colorado at home. It will be my debut at home, and I hope to be better than I was (Tuesday)."

Colorado sits in second in the Western Conference table after FC Dallas's win over Kansas City on Saturday night. It is coming off a 1-1 tie with RSL at home in the second edition of the Rocky Mountain Cup - the regular season series between the two Western Conference teams. The teams traded own-goals in the contest, the first MLS game in history to end 1-1 on two own goals.

"In the first half we didn't play well, simple as that," Colorado coach Fernando Clavijo said. "The second half we moved better. We sent people forward, we attacked. We were playing too conservatively in the first half."

Colorado is hurting on its backline with defenders Brandon Prideaux (right knee meniscus) and Ugo Ihemelu (left knee tendinitis) out. Ihemelu could play Sunday, but the artificial surface at Giants Stadium could force him to wait one more game for his comeback.

The Rapids have gotten strong, physical play out of midfielders Pablo Mastroeni - who has been playing central defense the past couple games - and Kyle Beckerman to make up for the injuries in the back.

"I'm starting to find out in my time here that a lot of teams don't like us," said Colorado forward Herculez Gomez, who joined the team in an offseason trade. "We've got guys who love playing under that type of pressure - Pablo, Kyle, they love getting under the opponents' skin, and I love helping them. I don't really have to run my mouth, but my play will help them."

After Sunday's fixture, Colorado will be back in action May 19 when it hosts Kansas City. New York will be back on the pitch on the 19th as well when it hosts Columbus.

Super Bowl XLIII Betting - Super Bowl 2009

Super Bowl 2009, the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Let’s take a look at the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds and the betting line and figure out where they’ve been and where they are going to go.

MySportsbook.com put up the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds late on Sunday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers favored by 6.5 points and a total betting line at 47.5 points.

Since then, however, the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds have seen a good deal of movement and you’ll want to be on top of where they are likely to move to make sure you get the best line value for the big game.

Since opening, the Super Bowl 2009 betting lines went to Steelers -7 in the span of roughly 3 hours but were quickly bought back down just minutes later to 6.5 again.

After that is took about 5-6 more hours before the betting line went back to -7 where it has sat for a while now and is likely to remain. The opening betting total of 47.5 was bet down right after the line became available and went to 47 within minutes.

Roughly a day later it has been bet even further down to the 46.5 tally it currently is set at.

Roughly 60% of gamblers seem to be on the Cardinals here so the point spread will be bet down and a 7.5 would not last very long at all with many taking the early 6.5 in hopes of finding a potential middle in the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds.

If you like Arizona and see a 7.5, I’d take it as soon as possible because it’s unlikely to last. For Pittsburgh backers, the -7 might be the best you’ll be able to find but a 6.5 is definitely possible close to game time.

Regarding the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds for the total, most tracked gamblers are already on the over and with those who took the under 47.5 already securing a middle on the over 46.5, the only way I see it moving is back up to 47 so if you like the over, I’d recommend betting now.
