Habs D Markov has knee surgery

underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament
of his right knee.
Markov, who suffered his injury during the first period of the opening game of
the playoff series against Pittsburgh, is expected to need six months of

The 31-year-old Markov had six goals and 28 assists during 45 regular season
games for the Canadiens this season. He missed 35 games due to a cut foot,
which he suffered during the season-opener against Toronto.
